River City Staff
Find out more about the staff of River City Church.
Antley Fowler
Church Leader
Antley has a whole page of the website dedicated to him. We think that is more than enough.
Craig Curell
Community Outreach Coordinator
Craig Curell grew up in the great state of Michigan! After college (Asbury College), he moved to Lima, Peru, for four years and worked with children who live on the street. While there, God taught him about his love for him and his love for “The Least, The Last, and The Lost”. He met his wife, Jennifer, while living in Peru, and that is what brought him to Jacksonville, Florida, and River City Church. Now he serves as the Outreach Coordinator, helping connect our church with the community around us.
Danny Strickland
Student Ministries Intern
About three years ago, in a really powerful church service, Danny made the decision to completely commit his life to ministry. Literally, a few weeks later, he found a job working with severely disabled children at a Christian organization called the Developmental Learning Center, and soon after that he took a part time job filling in for a church youth ministry. He was originally planning on taking the next step toward full-time ministry by getting a Bible Theology degree. However, after talking with Derek and Antley, an opportunity to work with the youth at River City Church arose, and he enthusiastically rose to the challenge.
Derek Harmon
Director of Student Ministries
After a long eight-year career as a geek for an IT company, Derek was coerced by aliens to join the staff here at RCC as the Director of Student Ministries. Seriously, Derek couldn’t be happier working with students and leading them to Christ. He lives here in Riverside and loves it!! He’s a music freak and spends most of his free time with his wife, Beth, and his three children.
Ed Nixon
Director of Media and Sound
Ed, a native from the motherland (England), loves playing music and all things creative! He moved to the US in the fall of 2005 to help start River City Church, and he now heads up all media, audio and creative arts. Ed believes that creativity is a powerful language that God gave us with which to worship Him, and that creativity is a tool through which God speaks, heals and grows people to the fullness of who they are in Him.
Hank Brink
Facilities Manager
Hank keeps things moving smoothly. If there is a church function, you can bet Hank is involved. So when you enter the church parking lot, grab that cup of coffee, or that can of Coke, remember that Hank is probably the one that made it possible.
Jennifer Curell
Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries
After spending two years in Peru working with children on the street, Jennifer moved back to Jacksonville and started working with the RCC children’s ministry in 2006. God really enlarged her heart for children and gave her a hunger to see kids grab hold of what it means to be a child — to be free and silly and full of life. Jennifer also loves hanging out with her husband, Craig, traveling, cooking, and competing in her new love: sprint triathlons!
Jodi Beere
Executive Administrative Assistant
Since arriving at RCC’s doorstep almost three years ago, Jodi has discovered that God’s grace is more than she ever dreamed possible, that freedom is a crazy roller coaster ride, and that God can and does use anybody to advance His Kingdom – even her. Jodi is a people person and loves that her role in the church affords her the opportunity to get to know so many different people and to be a part of their worlds. Jodi is married to Greg, and they have one daughter, Hope.
Jonathan White
Director of Children’s Ministries
In April of 2006, after working as a school teacher and in the IT industry, Jonathan joined the RCC staff. He loves his job; he gets to love kids like a dad and be creative in teaching them about Jesus. He likes history, baseball, and fishing, and he loves his family.
Lex Buckley
Associate Director of Worship
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Lex previously worked for Soul Survivor Ministries in the UK as one of their worship pastors. Lex and her husband, Paul, moved to Jacksonville in 2006 to head up the Worship Department at RCC, and they recently had a beautiful baby girl named Bella Grace.
Martha Paulk
Executive Director of Ministry
Martha Paulk is a native Floridian and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida, Gainesville. She was in the midst of pursuing a Ph.D. in communicative disorders at UF when she felt God calling her to the staff of RCC. Her previous work experience has included serving as a staff speech/language pathologist in a rehabilitation institute and local hospitals in Norfolk, Virginia, working as Director of Children’s Ministries and administrator of the weekday developmental preschool in a local church in Jacksonville, and serving as a faculty member and associate division chief in the Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine at University of Florida, Jacksonville. She also took ten years away from full-time employment in order to focus upon rearing her four children, who are all now adults (and UF graduates/Gators, except David, who graduates from UF in May, 2009!).
Paul Buckley
Director of Worship
Paul is a proud born-and-raised Londoner! He was married in 2005 to his beautiful wife, Lex, and they now have a little baby daughter named Bella Grace. Paul and Lex moved to Jacksonville in September of 2006, and they head up the worship department together.
Ron Shinall
IT Manager
Ron spends his time trying to figure out why computers are so ornery. If it plugs into the wall or a power strip, he probably works on it. Ron has over 12 years experience in the IT / Internet industry, including owning and working at a web design & programming company for ten years. Ron has also logged time in the corporate world, including production, management, and quality improvement experience.
